Formed in 2001 and based in Wausau, Wisconsin, Area 51 is a high-energy 3-piece rock n' roll
show. Playing the best of modern techno-rock and nu-metal, the band combines years of
experience along with a dedication to quality live production. With over 12,000 watts of sound
reinforcement and 24,000 watts of lightening, Area 51 packs an impressive punch. Utilizing
state-of-the art sequencing technology gives them an in-concert look and sound that must be
seen and heard to be appreciated.
Area 51 is Rico Jaeger, guitarist and vocalist, has been teaching guitar since he was 16. He
went on to lead several successful groups, most notably X-FACTOR and the Minneapolis-based
ROULETTE. Rico earned his Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Stevens Point,
studying formal, classical vocal training and sang opera in New York and London, England. His
many rock n' roll influences include Van Halen, Queensryche & Stabbing Westward.
Gary Erickson, bassist and vocalist, began playing at a young age. For several years, he fronted
the group STORM. After that, he went on to form the highly successful FICTION DOG, which
recorded their well-received CD "FIDO". This CD earned rave reviews and positive feedback
from various independent and major record labels. In 2004, FICTION DOG recorded and
released a new CD entitled "BITTER WINTER" and plan on another CD in 2005. Gary's
influences range from Great White to Marilyn Manson, Dope to Journey, and Wisconsin's own
Bad Boy.
Tim Gessner, drummer and vocalist, started playing during his early teens and has established
a solid reputation as an innovative and energetic timekeeper, as well as an accomplished
singer. His former groups UNIT ONE and FUNKLE ESTER were firmly established in the
Wisconsin live music scene. His influences include Rush, Dream Theater, and Tool.
